Detecting the growth of a pathogen in host cells
Key Contact: Casey Crooks, ccrooks@fs.fed.us Partner: John Innes Institute, England
A high throughput quantitative luminescence assay was developed to detect the growth of a pathogen in host cells. The assay is based on ‘tagging’ pathogen chromosomes with a genetic luminescent promoter probe, luxCDABE, from the insect bacterial pathogen Photorhabdus luminescens. The method will be useful to detect and track pathogens in vivo.
